Joined P&G Japan in 1977 and started a career in marketing as the first Japanese woman in the management track. Led the introduction of a feminine hygiene brand Whisper to the No. 1 position in 3 years, thus significantly contributing to the turn-around of P&Gʼs business in Japan. Also created the second profit centre of its hair care business including Pantene and Rejoy as national brands and Vidal Sassoon ready to go to market. Saved and reset Pampers to its growth track.
Played key roles in Asia Strategic Planning Teams or Global Strategic Planning Teams, running many global projects. Elected as General Manager (1995) responsible for the paper business, the Japanʼs largest profit centre. Elected the first Japanese Vice President of Corporate New Venture, Asia(1998). While at P&G, pioneered and made significant efforts in recruiting and training local talents. After retiring from P&G, joined Global Leadership Council as its retired officer.
Served as President of Dyson Japan and as President and COO of Japan ToysʼRʼus.
In October 2004, Fortune elected her as one of the top 50 most powerful business women in the world outside U.S.A. Established Office WaDa in 2005 and became a consultant in Marketing and Management. Currently also serving as outside board of director at Shimazdu Corporation, as Executive Advisor at Waterdesign and as Advisor at Monitas.
